This is my favorite page.
I'll freely admit, sometimes I hate my work, and the direction it goes, or ends up. It gets away from me. In any given piece, there are a million choices to be made, and often there is no right answer. art by definition has no ONE right or wrong way to do things.
You can go back one page to page 5, and see, its much more "slick" looking. While I always wanted strong palette use in the works. And I hesitate to say "over rendered", because that misses the real issues. Its saturation, rendering, textures, etc all combined.
The shift from night to day, capped off with this much more soothing palette really does well.
The rendering on this page sortof captures what I envisioned for the books entirely in the first place. While page 1 of Maybe wasn't the first page I did. You might be able to see some of the similarities if you go back and look at it.
